Awaken: The Mind of Worship
Brennan Manning, a devout Christian author and Franciscan Priest, once said, “Worship is the raising of the mind and the heart to God. It's a sense of wonder, awe and profound gratitude.” So many times we reserve this “raising of the heart and mind” for Sunday morning, but where do your thoughts go when your outside of church?
As we continued in our series, Awaken: The Big Picture this past Sunday, we found that worshiping our Father goes much deeper than singing a song or reciting a prayer, but it is made up of how we live our lives every day. A major key to living a life of worship is to, “Set your minds on things above.” - Colossians 3:2.
This week, begin each day with your mind focused on God. Read in the book of Psalms and center your life in Him. Continue in your day with truth in your thoughts - truth about who God is and who you are in Him. Then, allow your worship to move you into action. See needs around you and meet them. Worship is your response back to God, and we do this best by loving Him and through serving others. Let’s live a great week of worship!
