Remembering 9/11: A Call to Pray, Hope, Trust.

This Sunday is the 10th anniversary of 9/11. All of us remember where we were that unfathomable day for in that moment, life changed. No longer were we immune from the wars "overseas." We discovered that we are not always "safe" simply living in the most affluent nation in the world. We realized that we had an enemy who targeted even innocent people. We all became acutely aware that life could be altered in an instant. So, how do we respond as we approach this anniversary date?

Got Questions?: Living Free from Guilt

If God can forgive my sins, why can’t I forgive myself? Why do I still have guilt for sins that God forgave years ago?

This is a great question that everyone tends to struggle at some point within their lifetime. Past sins have a way of creeping up and robbing us from the joy of our relationship with God.

There are two kinds of guilt in the Bible. There is godly sorrow and then there is worldly sorrow (2 Cor. 7:10). Godly sorrow that leads a...

Men's Ministry Canoe Trip Update

Hi men, remember last weekend when we got a lot of rain? Well, as rainfall tends to do, it rose the river. That's great for lots of reasons. But one of them is not canoeing. In fact it's quite the opposite. Duck River Canoe Rental confirmed with us today that they have been closed all week because the river is too high to canoe safely. They don't anticipate it being ready for recreational canoeing today (Friday) and aren't yet certain about tomorrow. Because safety is our first priority...

Small Groups @ RHCC

I have astigmatism, a condition of the eye where objects appear kind of fuzzy. At times it feels like the eye just can’t focus in on the object it’s looking at, and it can be very frustrating. A good pair of eyeglasses fixes it for me. But when the lenses get smudged or my kids grabhold of my frames, things get a little out of whack all over again, and I am reminded of why I need something to help me clear up the world around me. I wish I could do it on my own, but I have...

Student Ministry VBS - Day 2

Last night was another great night of VBS. Students were supporting their colors, encouraging their teammates, and going crazy. In fact, I think I am loosing hearing in my left ear. The most memorable moments from last night is when I walked outside to see students yelling, trying to guide their teammates, who were crawling on the ground blindfolded, to hit another team with a dodgeball.

In bible study, our students studied through Luke 7:36-50. The big question was, "how can I...

Student Ministry VBS - Day 1 Recap

The first night of our Student VBS was jam packed with excitement. Teams were formed, relationships were building, snacks were MESSY (5 gallon cooler over concrete floor, great!), and leaders were crazy. I LOVE IT! I believe the first night jitters are over for the incoming 5th graders and I expect the volume of the crowd to be a little louder...

Guard Your Heart From "Little" Sins

Many times in life we think that little things are no big deal. We have "little" sins we work to conceal thinking no one knows. But God knows. And God cares. Little things are big things to God. He is holy and perfect, and He only wants the best for you. He knows these "little" sins will ultimately hurt us as well as those around us. Being a person of "unwavering commitment" means dealing with anything in your life that is not of God. Have the courage to pray as David did in Psalm 139,...
