There is no denying that we live in a world of suffering and, sometimes, times get hard. Just turn on the news for a few minutes one night or glance at the front page of the newspaper and you’ll see stories of hurt and despair.

Much of the time, you hear about the errant path someone took that led them towards bad decisions and resulted in their poor situation. However, the stories that stay with us are ones where good people get hurt for, what seems to be, no reason at all… The school principal who was brutally murdered by a student; the single mother who is living on the streets because she lost her job in the wake of a poor economy; the orphan who is dreading their next birthday because they know it will mean they have to leave the orphanage and have no place to go; and the list goes on.
So the question is… why do these bad things happen to good people? If we have a God who loves us, and we are clinging to Him daily and praying for His help and guidance, why does He allow worldly troubles to fall on us?
