Living Life with Excellence
The Apostle Paul tells us in Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Wow! What a difference it makes as we live life not only as God being our Savior, but also with Him as our Lord and our Boss. You see, God wants the best for us, but God also wants the best from us! As the title of Oswald Chambers famous devotional book says, “My Utmost for His Hightest;” in other words, God wants us to give our best for His glory. God wants us to live life with excellence. As a father, you are the only dad your kids will ever have; you are the only mom, you are the only child to your parents, you are the only person who can do your job (as long as God has you there) or your ministry. Charles Swindoll says, “I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our Attitudes.” Therefore, whatever you do – do it with all your heart! It is not enough to just go through the motions of worship, relationships or life. God expects our best; in fact, the entire book of Malachi in the Old Testament is about giving God our best – excellence. Jim Collins says, “Good is the enemy of great.” Let’s give it our best. Let’s give our best to God first, and then our best to those around us. Let’s invest our lives in the things that really matter and let’s do worship, life, and ministry with excellence!
