It is refreshing to see your children take action when they see opportunity. You may recall that RHCC donated a IBM laptop for a young man at MTSU who does not have a lot of financial or parental guidance at home. After moving in last weekend, my daughter went over to check on him. She found he had one pillow, one sheet, and no other bedding. His roommate took him to Best Buy while he bought a TV for himself and, while there, the Best Buy employee tried to sign the young man up for a charge card so he could get the same TV on credit. My daughter, knowing how we have always told our kids "don't buy if you can't pay for it", told the young man it was a bad deal and not to do it. She saw that a friend did not have the same opportunity as his roommates or her.

She then called my wife and asked if she could take money out of her savings to buy the young man sheets and pillows for his bed and surfed the web and found a smaller TV for his room. She purchased the items and took them to him. I cannot tell you how proud I was when I found out she had done this. Who would ever believe a teenager really listening to what their parents say and remembering the "pay it forward" series recently completed at RHCC?
