This coming Sunday, September 18, we are beginning a brand new series here at Rolling Hills entitled "Why Pray?" Prayer is one of the most important, and yet most difficult, practices for us all. Have you ever thought about why pray? I mean if God is Sovereign (which He is), then why do we pray about things in our life and in our world? Yet, Jesus prayed. The Bible says, "Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed." Mark 1:35. Maybe the fact is that prayer doesn't change God (or maybe in some way it does), but prayer definitely changes us. You see, there is something that happens to us just being in the very Presence of God. Being in the very Presence of the One who orders the entire world. Being in the Presence of the One who loves us more than you can even dream or imagine. Prayer is our very life-line to our Heavenly Father. In one of His first teaching times (the Sermon on the Mount), Jesus taught about prayer (Matthew 6). He said, "And when you pray…" (knowing this was something we would do), He said, "this is how you should pray…" Jesus gave the disciples the model prayer – the Lord's Prayer – beginning with "Our Father…" Come on this five-week journey with us at Rolling Hills. I truly believe God will transform your prayer life during these next 30-days. You will learn the Presence, the Perspective, the Provision, the Power and the Peace of prayer. I look forward to learning and growing with you during this time!
