Mom to Mom Testimony from Kristal Woods:
I have been involved in Mom to Mom for 2 years. During that time, I have met some amazing women, and strengthened friendships with several that I knew prior to joining. I have learned so much from the curriculum and discussion with my small group about how to be a better mom and wife, and more importantly about putting Christ first in my life. I've learned lessons on discipline (both for myself and my child), talking through things with my husband, and great ways to fit in some time with the Lord while being a busy mama to my toddler. The women in Mom to Mom helped me through one of the hardest months of my life when my grandmother passed away and I miscarried...and were there to celebrate when we discovered we were expecting again. I have been so blessed by the women in Mom to Mom, and I know my family is thankful that this ministry exists.
A Titus 2 Leader Testimony by Ginger Melton:
Why Me and Why Be One?
That was my question several years ago. Why would God want to use an imperfect, insecure, ADD distracted mom like me in this ministry? In my mind, I was not small group leadership material. I am not one to ask those thought-probing questions. I am a numbers person who likes to make everybody feel welcomed in any setting. I have a servant’s heart, but don’t always feel confident in front of a group. My family thinks I am nuts when they look at my talents and educational background, but I am being honest here.
So why me? God calls us to encourage one another. God calls us to love one another. He calls us to use our gifts in serving others. We are all part of the body of Christ, not the whole body, just a part. All parts must join together to make a whole in order to carry out Christ’s calling in the church. So I had to move beyond my insecurities and imperfections and respond to what He was asking me to do.
Part of being a Titus 2 mom is sharing what we have learned as mothers with others that are just behind us on the journey. We are there as encouragers. We have walked those paths. We have stumbled along the way. We don’t know all the answers, but we know the One who does! We talk to Him on your behalf and ask Him for wisdom as we encourage you. We know the joys of motherhood and the heartbreak.
It was such a comfort for me as a young mom to have a mentor mom in my church that I could turn to when times were tough. I am so thankful for the people that God placed in my path during my times of need. There were times and days that I don’t know how I would have made it if God had not sent someone with skin on to minister to me. Titus 2 Leaders are those persons with skin on for the younger moms.
It is a joy to be able to love on the moms. We love celebrating the joys of momlife like new babies and children’s accomplishments. We also cry with you when the days are tough. When Titus 2 Leaders gather on Tuesday mornings before the moms arrive, we pray for the moms and their children, the child care workers, as well as the plans for the morning. We love seeing the moms and precious little ones come strolling in. It brings back such sweet memories.
It is all about modeling and passing it on to the next generation. That is what each mom is doing with her children. That is what we are doing as Titus 2 moms. We model for you. Part of me serves to honor my mother and what she modeled and taught me. But more so it is the love that I have for young moms, the hope for the future of the next generation, and my commitment to my Lord. That is why I serve.
